Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The old-vine cuvée from the village of Valtuille, the 2022 Quite has a slightly darker color and riper profile of dark berry fruit and aromatic herbs, a touch more Mediterranean this year, with a medium-bodied palate and fine-grained, chalky tannins. This is the ninth vintage for this red, and it fermented with 15% full clusters and matured mostly in large oak containers for nine months. It has contained ripeness and 13% alcohol, coming through as juicy and balanced, clean and expressive. 33,400 bottles produced.

Description
Quite is a young crianza red wine made with the native Mencía grape variety by the Verónica Ortega winery within the Bierzo DO.
The grapes come from 80-100 year old vines planted on sandy-clay soils with pebbles (quartzite, slate...).
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, cluster by cluster, at optimum ripeness. On arrival at the winery, after destemming in stainless steel tanks, the grapes are lightly worked during fermentation to avoid marked extraction. The maceration is short and lasts 10-15 days.
The wine is aged for 8 months as follows: 35% of the wine is aged in 228-litre French oak barrels of second to fourth use, 40% in truncated cone-shaped wooden vats and 25% in 800-litre terracotta amphorae. Finally, the wine is lightly filtered before bottling to remove the coarser particles.
Taste
Quite is a wine that shows a very personal floral aroma. In the mouth it has a seductive taste, sweet tannins and a fluid acidity on the palate.
A fragrant and light wine
Quite is a wine produced by the winery Verónica Ortega in the DO Bierzo in the small village of Valtuille de abajo, in the Bierzo region of Spain.
It is a red wine with a very peculiar winemaking process, as part of the wine has been aged in barrels, another part in truncated cone-shaped wooden vats and a third part in clay amphorae.
This ageing process has resulted in a wine to be enjoyed and highly valued by critics year after year.
In the gastronomic field it has been recommended to accompany dishes with botillo del Bierzo, grilled, baked, stewed or grilled red meats and dinners with friends.
