Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Silver Label now shows the name on the label (and also 'Etiqueta Plateada' in Spanish). It's their first wine in their new era, which started in 2002, a wine that aims to promote the quality and potential of Monastrell. It matured in new and second-use French oak barrels for one year, but they were looking for lower toast and less impact of the wood in the wine than earlier vintages when it was 100% new oak. It has a paler color and a subtler and more floral nose, keeping the poise and showing surprisingly fresh for the conditions of the year. It's ripe, reflecting the warm and dry weather, with 15% alcohol but very good freshness, coming through as balanced and harmonious, clean and pure. This is a bargain and a success for the year, a champion in drinkability. Bravo! 298,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2024.

Description
Juan Gil Silver Label is a red wine made exclusively from Monastrell grapes, coming from old vineyards located at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level on chalky and stony soils. This wine, with denomination of origin Jumilla, is characterised by its organic character, cultivated in low-yield conditions to obtain a greater concentration of aromas and flavours.
Winemaking
The vinification process of Juan Gil Silver Label is carried out in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by an ageing of approximately 12 months in French oak barrels. After this period, the wine rests in steel tanks before bottling, which gives it its distinctive complex and balanced character.
Taste
On the nose, Juan Gil Silver Label stands out for its ripe fruit aromas, mainly black and red, accompanied by balsamic, toasted and spicy notes, as well as hints of cocoa and dried herbs. Its mineral background adds freshness and complexity. On the palate, this wine is structured, powerful and sweet, with a silky texture that balances its acidity. The finish is long and persistent, with hints of oak from the ageing process. The fruit is the protagonist in every sip, offering a full and pleasant experience.
Juan Gil Silver Label is ideal for pairing with hearty dishes such as roasted meats, traditional stews and sausages, highlighting its versatility at the table.
