Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 El Jardín de la Emperatriz Tinto has riper aromas than I expected, even though the palate shows more restraint. It's a blend of 88% Tempranillo, 9% Garnacha, 2% Graciano and 1% Maturana Tinta fermented in stainless steel and matured in American and French oak barrels for 12 months. The palate is medium to full-bodied with fine tannins and with ripe flavors in the finish. 161,000 bottles and 8,000 magnums produced. It was bottled in June 2020.
Between 14ºC and 16ºC
Aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
Jardín de la Emperatriz Tinto is a wine made from a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Maturana Blanca and Graciano grape varieties, typical of the Rioja Alavesa. The result is a red wine with great personality, smooth and easy to drink.
The Hermanos Hernáiz winery is located near the province of Burgos and each of the products it produces is protected under the D. O. Ca. Rioja. Moreover, the vineyards from which the fruit is extracted are exposed to a continental-Mediterranean climate, as well as chalky and clay soils, the perfect environment for the grapes to develop their organoleptic capacities to the maximum!
The grapes are harvested by hand and the vinification materials used are stainless steel tanks and concrete eggs. The malolactic fermentation process is followed by an ageing period of one year in French and American oak barrels.
The aroma is reminiscent of ripe fruit, while the taste is characteristically spicy, with a slight hint of red and black berries. The palate is robust, with good body and well-developed tannins. It has a long and pleasant finish.
The great taste of La Rioja
El Jardín de la Emperatriz Tinto combines in a unique and harmonious way the Rioja tradition with the careful method of the Bordeaux Médoc. It is a well-developed wine that will satisfy even the most demanding connoisseurs.
