Italian wines never cease to surprise with their personality and presence. Here we offer you a selection of our experts with the Italian wines that you can’t miss.

 

1. Principiano Ferdinando Langhe Freisa Chila 2015

Our first choice is the young red wine Principiano Ferdinando Langhe Freisa Chila 2015 from the Principiano Ferdinando winery in Piedmont. An organic, captivating, fruity and juicy wine, made from 100% Fresia grapes, with 13.5% alcohol. In its production process, it undergoes a spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts.

 

2. Occhipinti SP68 2019

Another young Italian red wine that is making waves is Occhipinti SP68 2019 from Sicilian Arianna Occhipinti. It is a biodynamic, fragrant and light wine made from a blend of Nero d’Avola and Frappato, with 12.5% alcohol content.

 

3. Eduardo Torres Versante Nord 2018

Eduardo Torres Versante Nord 2018 is another great wine that you should not miss out on. A powerful and structured biodynamic wine from the Sicilian winery Eduardo Torres Acosta. It is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes and has 13.5% alcohol.

It undergoes a 15-day cold skin maceration, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in concrete tanks and 16 months of ageing in 750 and 3,000 litre Slovenian oak vats.

 

4. Costadilà 280 slm 2019

 

Hailing from Veneto, we have this wonderful Prosecco from the Costadilà winery, the Costadilà 280 slm 2019. It is a natural, light and vibrant wine, made from Glera, Verdiso and Bianchetta, with only 10,% alcohol.

It undergoes a 20-day maceration on skins, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in steel tanks for 5 months, bottling with the addition of must and ageing for 3 months in the bottle before disgorging. Bottling is carried out without fining, filtering or sulphur additives.

 

5. Cascina Tavjn Bianca 2019

 

The last of our selection is the great non-vintage white wine Cascina Tavjn Bianca 2019 from the Cascina Tavjn winery in Piedmont. This is a natural, aromatic and fragrant wine, with 12% alcohol and made from a wide range of grapes: Vermentino, Cortese, Moscatel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Gris.

It undergoes a 4-day cold skin maceration prior to spontaneous alcoholic fermentation. The wine is bottled without fining and without added sulphites.
