How to prepare a good sangria step by step

The first step in achieving a good sangria is to choose good ingredients.

The basis of traditional Spanish sangria is a bottle of red wine. It is essential to choose a good wine. In our online store, you can find several options of quality and affordable red wines.

You will need to add half a lemon and an orange squeeze to the wine. Some people, instead of squeezing the lemon and orange, choose to incorporate the peel of each citrus fruit. If you want a higher alcohol content, you can add a glass of brandy, cognac or orange liqueur.

Then, add sugar to taste along with a cinnamon stick, although the latter is optional. If you don’t like cinnamon, you can avoid it without any problem. As for the sugar, it is important to take into account that the fruit and the soda we will add later will already provide enough sweetness, so it is recommended to add it carefully. Stir well so that the sugar dissolves correctly.

We continue with the fruit. Here it is important to note that, as with wine, the quality of the fruit we use will be decisive in achieving good sangria. We recommend not to use canned fruit. Which fruit is ideal? One or two peaches and an apple. Wash and peel the fruit, cut it into medium pieces and add it to the mixture.

Then let the fruit macerate with the alcohol for at least two hours. This is key to achieving optimal flavor. Finally, add ice and a liter of some orange or lemon soda and you will have your sangria ready to serve.
