Fresh red wines for the summer

For fans of red wine, there is no season when they don’t want to enjoy it. However, there are some red wines that go better with the heat than others, due to their freshness. Here we offer you a selection of five red wines to enjoy in the summer.

 

1. Clos Marie Pic Saint Loup L’Olivette 2018

The fruity and juicy Clos Marie Pic Saint Loup L’Olivette 2018 Crianza red wine from the Clos Marie winery is a great wine to enjoy in summer. Made from Grenache, Syrah and Monastrell, it has 13.5% alcohol content, this biodynamic wine goes through carbonic maceration and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts and whole clusters.

Ageing is carried out in demi-muids and oak foudres and bottling is done without fining or filtering.

2. Bruno Duchêne La Luna 2019

Bruno Duchêne’s natural young red, La Luna 2019 is another great option for tasting with warmth. This is a wine made from Grenache, with 13.5% alcohol, made from a four-day skin maceration with stems and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts.

 

4. Roig Boig 2020

Fragrant and light, Roig Boig 2020 by Celler La Salada is another spectacular summer alternative. With only 10.5%, this natural wine with no added sulphites combines a large number of indigenous grapes: Xarel-lo, Sumoll, Turbat, Monica, Mandó, Cannonao.

 

4. Hommage à Robert 2019

The young red wine Hommage à Robert 2019 from the Rhone Valley winery Le Raisin et L’Ange is another exceptional example for this climate. With 13% alcohol, this natural wine stands out for its lightness and combines Merlot, Gamay and Grenache grapes.

Made from a two-week carbonic maceration and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts, it is bottled unclarified, unfiltered and without added sulphites.
