18 August – International Pinot Noir Day: 5 Pinot Noirs not to be missed

August 18th is International Pinot Noir Day and our way of celebrating it is to offer you our experts’ selection of some of the best examples made from this magnificent grape variety. And when it comes to Pinot Noir, we know that French Burgundy is the place to be for this grape.

1. Sylvain Pataille Bourgogne Rouge 2018

The aged red wine Sylvain Pataille Bourgogne Rouge 2018 is a biodynamic wine with 13% alcohol made in French Burgundy, from 100% Pinot Noir, a spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts and aged for 15 to 18 months in oak barrels.

2. Fanny Sabre Bourgogne 2018

The young aged red wine Fanny Sabre Bourgogne 2018 is another great example from French Burgundy, made entirely from Pinot Noir. It is a fragrant and light natural wine, which goes through a spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with whole grape harvest without destemming and an ageing of eight months in French oak barrels.

3. Manuel Olivier Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Pinot Noir 2018

The Manuel Olivier Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Pinot Noir 2018 is a young aged red wine also made in Burgundy, specifically in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits DO, from this wonderful grape variety. With 12.5% alcohol, it is an organic wine partially aged for nine months in French oak barrels.

4. Derain Allez Goûtons Rouge 2020

The young red wine Derain Allez Goûtons Rouge 2020 from Burgundy is another great choice if Pinot Noir is your thing. Fruity and juicy, it is a wine with only 11% alcohol, made from spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts and partially whole grapes.

5. Domaine Régis Rossignol-Changarnier Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2016

Finally, we have the crianza red wine Domaine Régis Rossignol-Changarnier Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2016. Also from Burgundy, it is a wine with 12.5% alcohol content and thirteen months of ageing that promises to captivate you.
