Description
Clandestina Blanc Fugitiu is an orange-coloured wine produced by the Bodegas Clandestinas winery, which is run by the passionate oenologist Ferrán Lacruz.
The grapes for this wine are grown in a small village in the Penedés wine region called Sant Martí Sarroca. Those who are in charge of the cultivation have dedicated their lives to producing rich, export-quality wines, where the local products that determine the quality and good taste prevail.
Elaboration
The grapes that serve as the basis for this wine come from the best vineyards, which are even more than 50 years old. For its elaboration, grapes from autochthonous Xarel Lo vines are used.
These grapes have a high level of acidity because their taste is influenced by the difference in temperature between day and night. When they reach maturity, the Xarel Lo grapes are harvested by hand in 18 kilogram boxes.
They are then macerated with their skins and undergo a spontaneous fermentation process in stainless steel tanks for 3 weeks. The fermented juice is aged for 4 months in oak barrels, with the exception of a small quantity corresponding to 13 % which rests in amphorae for the same length of time.
Finally, the wine is bottled without refining, filtering or sulphur additions.
Taste
Clandestina Blanc Fugitiu is characterised by a smooth and very elegant orange wine with a low alcoholic content. It has rich aromas of white fruit, toasted notes and minerals typical of the soils where it is produced.

Bodegas Clandestinas' Fugitiu wine can definitely be classified as one of the best of its kind. It is served chilled, at a temperature of 10 degrees centigrade and is perfect for pairing with appetizers, white meats, vegetables, spicy dishes or rice.
