Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The newest wine here is the pure Garnacha. The 2017 La Xara is the third vintage of this red that wants to show a fresher and less alcoholic side of the grape from clay, limestone and granite soils. It fermented with full clusters in 4,500-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in those same vats with the lees for seven months. It feels like a light Southern Rhône wine, with notes of cherries in liqueur, but with great freshness and moderate alcohol (13%). It's medium-bodied and has very fine tannins. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2018.
Between 14ºC and 16ºC
Aged for 12 months in old French oak foudres.
