Description
Gratallops Vi de Vila is a red wine made from Grenache (87%), Carignan (12%) and a small amount of white varieties to add freshness such as Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo or Pedro Ximénez by Álvaro Palacios under the D.O.Q. Priorat in Gratallops, Catalonia. Priorat in Gratallops, Catalonia.
It is a wine produced with grapes coming from old vines that are 18 to 74 years old on average from the Catalan Priorat and born from 10 different plots in Priorat.
These vineyards were planted on slate soils with a laminar structure, located at an altitude of 300 to 400 metres above sea level and a continental climate with Mediterranean influence.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand when perfectly ripe. When the bunches arrive at the winery, they are destemmed and gently crushed to start the alcoholic fermentation in small wooden vats, with indigenous yeasts and regular de-stemming. Maceration lasts approximately 40 days.
Spontaneous malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrels, followed by ageing in French oak tanks for 13 months.
Taste
Gratallops Vi de Vila stands out for its high aromatic and gustatory intensity, with fruity, herbal and mineral touches. It is a fresh, round and pleasant wine, with a very long and fluid passage, which surprises for its powerful and intense tannins and a finish to remember.
It is an aromatic caress and a warm embrace of taste.
