Description

Frank Cornelissen Susucaru Rosato is a winemaking expression that reflects the philosophy and winemaking techniques that characterise all of this winery's wines. It is produced with skin contact for texture and territorial identity, and completed with malolactic fermentation for density, fluidity and stability. Although it can be considered as a refreshing summer wine, this rosé, made from a blend of Malvasia, Moscadella, Insolia and Nerello Mascalese, can also be seen as a light red, similar to a wine from the "Jura" region, which pairs well with a wide variety of dishes.

Winemaking

The wine comes from the Etna region, in the northern valley, and specifically from vineyards such as Picciolo, Calderara, Crasà, Muganazze, Feudo di Mezzo and Puntalazzo. As for its elaboration, after destemming and lightly crushing the grapes, fermentation begins with a foot of vat using only indigenous yeasts and with skin contact for about 10 days. Malolactic and ageing takes place in neutral epoxy tanks ranging from 2,500 litres to 8,000 litres. No fining is carried out and the wine is filtered before bottling with 1 micron cartridges. Sulphur values can vary between 15 and 50 mg/l, added or not, depending on the quality of the grapes and the stability of the wine.

Taste

Susucaru Rosato is a red wine with pinkish nuances. Its aroma evokes a range of red fruits, with notes of strawberry juice and cherry, accompanied by a hint of vanilla and a light blueberry aroma. On the palate, there is a dominant cherry flavour, impressive minerality and light acidity. In addition, it leaves a very fine carbonated aftertaste, which makes it very light and, as they say colloquially, "one of the dangerous ones".
