Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2013 El Sacramento is from a wetter and cooler year and has a much higher percentage of Graciano, up to 15% to complement the Tempranillo, all of it from their estate vineyard in Laguardia. Fermentation and aging was the same as the initial 2011, in stainless steel and new and second use barriques for 17 months. They had to do a severe selection in this botrytis-affected year, and it seems like it really paid back. There is a lot of freshness, with a serious profile and a medium to full-bodied palate. They started harvesting very early because they saw the botrytis coming, and it resulted in a lower alcohol wine with less body than the rest of vintages, a good result. It's a different year, with the additional protection and freshness of the thick-skinned Graciano. A real triumph over the conditions of the year. 7,500 bottles were filled in March 2015. This is the last vintage they produced in a rented space; they built their own winery/garage for the 2014 vintage while they finish building their own proper winery.
