Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The darker and more powerful 2015 Reserva shows the style of the vintage, which is riper and warmer but has produced quite balanced wines. It has a modern and clean style, with some creamy, spicy and smoky notes that seem to be part of the house style. It comes through as balsamic and has notes of incense and cigar ash, and it's fruit-driven, with aromas of dark berries and a touch of forest floor. The palate is medium to full-bodied with fruit and some tannins and finishes dry and clean, with good precision and length. 40,000 bottles produced.

Features

Description

Torre de Oña Reserva is a wine made from two grape varieties, which results in a fine blend of mazuelo and tempranillo vines. A simply irresistible combination.
The winery is located in the D. O. Ca. La Rioja, an area of clay soils rich in sulphites which, thanks to its climatic conditions, offers the right environment for the grape to develop its potential to the maximum. It is therefore the ideal wine for lovers of red wines from the Rioja Alavesa.

Winemaking

Firstly, the grapes are harvested by hand. The grapes are selected from the plots located around the winery. Then, during the vinification process, the grapes undergo a cold pre-fermentation process.
During the malolactic fermentation period, the wine is transferred to brand new American and French oak barrels and then aged for exactly 20 months, during which time 25% of the liquid rests in Caucasian oak barrels.

Taste

In the nose, its aroma is intense and fruity. On the palate, its flavour is fresh and with a balanced presence of tannins. Undoubtedly, an incredible experience on the palate.

A red wine with an incomparable flavour

Torre de Oña Reserva stands out for its long and pleasant finish, which allows us to appreciate the characteristic nuances of its ageing in oak barrels. It is a smooth wine that perfectly represents the style of the classics of La Rioja. This particularity has allowed it to obtain more than ninety Parker points on four different occasions.
Due to its organoleptic characteristics, it is perfect to accompany cured cheeses, grilled fish and stews with different spices.
