Description
Radikon Oslavje is a masterpiece of winemaking from the Oslavia region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is a creation of the Radikon winery, under the supervision of producer Sasa Radikon. This wine stands out for being a skin-contact white wine, also known as orange wine, which gives it unique characteristics in terms of taste and appearance.
Winemaking
The grape varieties used for this wine are 60% Chardonnay and 40% Sauvignon. These grapes come from vines that are between 35 and 40 years old and grow in the special Ponka soil. The delicate elaboration of this wine begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes at their perfect point of ripeness. Once destemmed, the grapes ferment in open wooden vats with their skins, without temperature control. Subsequently, they continue to macerate for 3-4 months and are aged for three years in oak casks and 2 years in the bottle. As usual with Radikon wines, the wine is bottled without fining, without filtering and without added sulphites.
Taste
Radikon Oslavje is an explosion of flavours and aromas that defy perception. On the nose and palate, notes of smoky apricots with sandalwood, accompanied by tamarind peel and hibiscus honey on a background of aged tobacco and dried figs. Also detectable are nuances of nashi pear with salted caramel, toasted pine nuts and camphor.
