Description
Oremus Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is a sweet wine that combines tradition, innovation and excellence, rooted in an unrepeatable land, becoming an emblem of true know-how in the art of winemaking. This wine is made from native varieties Furmint, Hárslevelü, Zéta and Sárgauskotály, from vineyards with an average age of 19 years, an area of 98 hectares, a planting frame of 5,660 plants per hectare, and at 200 metres above sea level.
Winemaking
Climatic conditions are essential: rain at the end of the summer followed by a sunny and windy period in autumn, which favours the appearance of "Botrytis cinerea" or noble rot. Over the years, the winemaking formula has remained unchanged: five 23 kg cuvees of Aszú noble berries are added to 136 litres of must in a "de Gönc" barrel. After macerating the berries with the must and waiting a couple of days, the must is pressed. Fermentation is a slow process that can take up to two months. Once it is finished, Eszencia, collected drop by drop from the aszú berries, is added, symbolically giving the wine back its soul.
Ageing takes place in small wooden casks, specifically in 136-litre "de Gönc" and 220-litre "de Szerednye" casks, for 2 to 3 years. After bottling, the wine matures for an additional year in the bottle, beginning a journey of development that can last for decades.
Taste
Oremus Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos seeks the perfect balance between acidity and sugar that the vintage has to offer. Its honey fragrances and fruity notes are captivating, and the acidity on the palate signals extreme ageing potential. With an alcohol content of 11.5%, a sugar content of 160 g/l and an acidity of 10.2 g/l, the Aszú has an alcohol content of 11.5%.
