Description
Oremus Mandolás is a revolutionary expression that has managed to break with the past and enrich the winemaking tradition of Tokaj, a region distinguished by its legacy in the world of wine. This wine, with a young and pioneering essence, has driven the new present of Tokaj, where dry white wines, with Mandolás at the forefront, are opening new horizons.
The name Mandolás comes from the old way of naming the Oremus vineyard from which it originates. This vineyard, with an average age of 25 years and a total area of 100 hectares, is planted entirely with the Furmint variety, considered the noblest in the region.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand between mid-September and early October. During the weeks prior to the harvest, the grapes are meticulously checked for ripeness, selecting only those bunches that are ripe, healthy and golden yellow in colour.
The grapes are delicately pressed to obtain a very dense must. Fermentation takes place in new wooden barrels for 8 to 12 days. Afterwards, the wine is aged in small barrels of 136 litres, typical of the area.
Taste
Oremus Mandolás stands out for being a young and fruity wine. Its fresh nose and aroma contrast with a robust body, accompanied by a lively acidity. It has an alcohol content of 13.5%, a sugar content of 2.2 g/l and an acidity of 7.1 g/l. Although it is ready to be tasted now, it has a cellaring potential of up to 10 years if kept in optimal conditions. For a full flavour experience, it is recommended to be consumed at 10ºC.
