Description

The "Nonnenberg" vineyard is characterised by deep, sandy phyllite soils, which end in loess at the bottom of the slope. This slope is named after the nuns of the Tiefenthal monastery, the former owners of the hillside and the buildings. The 5 hectares of vineyards are the exclusive property(monopoly) of Georg Breuer and include vines that in some plots are more than 70 years old. Under a strict quality philosophy, Bernhard Breuer transformed the 40-hectare family winery into one of the leading wineries in the Rheingau. Today, his daughter Theresa Breuer runs the estate, supported by vineyard manager Hermann Schmoranz and cellar master Markus Lundén.

Taste

Georg Breuer Nonnenberg is an extremely powerful Riesling. It is mineral with an acidic structure. On the palate it is complex, with notes of spicy red apple, juicy citrus and a lively grip. It is noted for its fine flavour and subtle warmth. It has 11.5% alcohol, 5.3g/l of residual sugar and a total acidity of 8.3 g/l. It is an ideal choice for those seeking the essence of the north in the Rieslings of this warm era.
