Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I also saw abundant sweet spices in the 2012 Finca la Emperatriz Terruño. It is a relatively young Tempranillo, planted in 1996, fermented in open-top vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in a mixture of new and used French (80%) and American oak barrels for 14 months. It felt quite ripe with more black than red fruit, and a palate that also feels quite marked by the élevage. 10,000 bottles and 444 magnums were filled in July 2014. If it's this oaky after two years in bottle, I start to wonder...
Between 14ºC and 16ºC
Aged for 16 months in new and second year French (80%) and american oak barrels.
