Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Clos Martinet's 1997 reveals a dark ruby/purple/plum color, sweet black raspberry and blackberry fruit, full body, an expansive, rich, heady, alcoholic finish, and nicely integrated wood. It is a concentrated, lusty style of Priorato to consume over the next decade.

Features

Description

Clos Martinet is a red wine made from Grenache, Carignan and a small percentage of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvingon by the Mas Martinet Viticultors winery under the D.O.Q. Priorat appellation. Priorat.
Clos Martinet is made exclusively with grapes from the Mas d'en Martinet estate, located between Falset and Gratallops, one of the best areas of Priorat.
The estate has seven hectares and is made up of excellent old vines cultivated according to organic farming, with the composition of the soils being of the llicorella type.

Elaboration

The grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation is carried out in cement vats with the lees and with very gentle and brief washings. These processes are carried out during alcoholic fermentation.
After these vinification processes, this red wine is aged for 24 months in new or used French oak barrels. The wine is bottled without any kind of fining.

Taste

Clos Martinet is a ripe red wine full of fruity aromas, spicy notes and mineral touches. On the palate it is powerful and enveloping. It is a silky red wine with polished tannins and a refreshing acidity. The finish is pleasantly persistent.

A mature and elegant wine

Clos Martinet is a wine made in Priorat. It is very elegant, full of life, sophisticated and with an exquisite minerality.
In the gastronomic field, this wine is especially recommended for business lunches, dinners with friends or as a gift and as an accompaniment to grilled lamb, game and white meats, among others.

  • 20/12/21 Clos Martinet 2014
  • 30/03/23 Clos Martinet 2020 Great priorat wine! Bold, power, fresh, energic. To keep stored years in the cellar would get melt tannins. Always keep one case and see how develops.
  • 18/12/20 Clos Martinet 2015 Top notch priorat red. Bold, mineral, rounded. Satisfaction guaranteed. A bit pricey, though. If you like that, try Arbossar from the same area and price, but more balanced.
