 Brexit UK

Dear customers,

As you all know, we are moving very close to the Brexit implementation in the United Kingdom. These are moments of uncertainty for all of us, given we do not know for sure how the shipments and import dispatches will be developed during the following weeks after the entry of the year 2021.

Therefore, we are moving fast in order to offer the best service from our side and to remain closed as short as possible for the shipments to the UK.

How does this affect our customers and Gourmet Hunters? We are very sorry to say that our logistics department has decided to temporarily close the reception of all incoming orders to the UK on Friday 18th of December, the last day for the reception of orders.

During the following week, we will have to proceed urgently with all shipments before December 31st to avoid stops at the destination customs. In the case of partial absences due to supplies from our suppliers or changes of vintage, our customer service department will contact all of you to proceed with the changes or partial refunds. Therefore, we ask for a quick response from you to make the shipment in the most immediate way.

How do we foresee the future scenario as of January 1st 2021? In January 2021 the United Kingdom will leave the European Union and will be considered a third country for export. All departures from our warehouse in Spain will be made under Incoterm DDP (Duty Delivery Paid) so that you do not have to pay any additional hidden costs. As an export country we will apply the local VAT at destination (20%) and import duties for alcohol (2.67 pounds per 75cl bottle). The estimated import duties are based on the British government's wine tables updated in November 2020, however we must be cautious and wait until the first few weeks of January 2021 to see if excise duties are maintained.

In relation to transport rates, we are now negotiating with the transport companies in order to mitigate any price increase in transport. A fact, the possible increase, that until the moment we do not know on the part of our logistic suppliers. However, we would like to remind you that Gourmet Hunters does not intend to do business with any freight charges. We will therefore be totally transparent in the event of any increase in transport costs. After all, our aim is to continue the good business relationships we have maintained with all our clients to date.

We will keep you informed through our newsletter during the next weeks.

All our Gourmet Hunters team is very grateful for the trust you have placed in us all these years.
