Description
Barco del Corneta La Sillería is an aged white wine made exclusively from Verdejo grapes by the Barco del Corneta winery in La Seca, VT Castilla y León.
These grapes come from the La Sillería, Silvina and El Padrino plots and have 150 year old vines growing on sandy and silt soils, which are located in Valladolid at an altitude of 770 metres above sea level.
The grapes have been cultivated with ecological techniques, respecting the environment and the diversity of the vineyards.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery in 15 kg boxes. At the winery, after a maceration of 12-18 hours, the whole grapes are pressed and fermented in 300 and 500 litre oak barrels with local yeasts. The wine is aged for 12 months on its fine lees in 500-litre barrels. Before bottling, the wine is left to settle for 5 months in stainless steel tanks.
Taste
Barco del Corneta La Sillería is a wine with citrus aromas, floral aromas and herbal notes. In the mouth it is round, oily, deep, very long and with a pleasant bitter finish typical of the variety.
A pure and complex wine
Barco del Corneta La Sillería is part of the recovery project that Beatriz Herranz is carrying out together with other local winegrowers, using varieties native to the area.
An admirable organic viticulture project that also keeps alive vineyards that have been practically forgotten in Alcazarén, Valladolid.
In the gastronomic field it is perfect as an aperitif and ideal to accompany white meats, soft cheeses and game.
