Description
Vincent Charlot L'Or Des Basses Ronces Blanc de Blancs is one of Vincent's flagship cuvées, a single vineyard vintage white sparkling wine where old Chardonnay vines reveal a unique terroir. This wine is like drinking from the memory of the ocean, in Vincent's words, highlighting its distinctive chalky character.
This champagne is made exclusively from the Chardonnay variety, sourced from the Les Basses Ronces vineyard in Mardeuil, with a northern exposure. This 0.4 hectare vineyard, certified organic and biodynamic, is home to two Chardonnay clones with different rooting depths, offering different expressions of this unique chalky terroir, located just 30 cm below the topsoil.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently pressed. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts of the must takes place in neutral toasted French oak barrels and then the wine matures on fine lees for a period of 11 months. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation, is not filtered and is not clarified. Finally, it is bottled with liqueur de tirage and aged on lees for at least 42 months for secondary fermentation. Finally, it is disgorged with a final dosage of 4g/l(Extra Brut).
Taste
Vincent Charlot L'Or Des Basses Ronces Blanc de Blancs is a grand and serious Chardonnay, with fine perpetual bubbles. A champagne that is characterised by being very fresh and saline, evoking the sensation of walking along a beach at low tide, inhaling fresh, iodised air. This wine is extremely fresh and bright, with an acidity that lingers on the palate, much longer than this irresistible bottle will last on your table.
