Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

There's a little more ripeness in the 2022 Táganan Parcela Margalagua, a jump in complexity and depth from the regular Táganan. It has fruit, elegance and a medium body with very fine tannins. It's very harmonious and with an ethereal quality to it. It has a combination of dry flowers, crushed rocks, herbs and always a marine whiff that makes it quite distinct. It's a very regular vineyard, but this is now a certified single-vineyard wine from the new Islas Canarias - Tenerife appellation. 1,800 bottles were filled in July 2023.

Features

Description

Táganan Parcela Margalagua is a red wine made from Malvasia, Sumoll, Baboso Negro, Listan Negro and Negramoll grapes by the Bodega Envínate winery in the Anaga area of the Canary Islands, Spain. The grapes are grown at an altitude of between 100 and 250 metres above sea level.
It is the creation of oenologist Roberto Santana, who is the driving force behind the Envínate project, where he works with old vines, with varied and blended formulas to create the Táganan brand, the old name of the production area.

Winemaking

It is made in small open buckets, after the grapes have been harvested and have reached optimum ripeness, which helps in the winemaking process.
The juice is then taken to an alcoholic fermentation process with indigenous yeasts and a maceration of 18 days. It is stirred daily and then undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation in 500-litre French oak barrels for a period of at least 11 months, avoiding racking or the addition of any sulphurous agents.

Taste

Tinto Táganan is a wine with a cherry red colour, with a light and deep aroma of red fruits and aromatic herbs. In terms of flavour, this wine is complex and fine, with a predominant taste of red fruits.

A highly rated wine

Until now, no wine from the islands had ever reached the rating of 98 points in the Parker Guide, a prestigious publication issued annually by The Wine Advocate magazine, which represents a great reference in this field at an international level.
Undoubtedly, Táganan wine is an experience that you must live to taste the quality and elegance of a good wine.
