There is a lot of precision, clarity and focus in the mineral 2021 Terra de Cuques, which has moderate ripeness and a fresher sensation than in the 2019, despite having the same alcohol (13.5%). 2019 could be the modern version of the 2016, with finesse and elegance. This is the first vintage completely without any oak, an important change for them. It opens up nicely with time in the glass, developing a fresh herbal note. 30,068 bottles produced.

Description
Terra de Cuques Negre is the authentic expression of Priorat, a renowned wine region in Spain. This wine is more than the sum of its altitude, soil and fruit; it is a prism of concentrated skill and intention. It represents a beautiful blend of local varieties that captures the complex soul of Torroja's terroir.
Carignan grown on licorella (slate) soils establishes the structure, backbone and acidity of the wine, while Grenache is grown on clay soils that bring an elegant expression of red fruit. The vines, grown organically, are between 25 and 40 years old and grow at an altitude of 400 metres.
Winemaking
The must is fermented with indigenous yeasts, with 7 and 10 days of maceration with whole clusters in cement and stainless steel tanks. Afterwards, the wine is aged for 8 months, also in cement and stainless steel tanks.
Taste
True to its origins, Terra de Cuques Negre enchants with its warm and supple nature. The rich black and red fruits evoke its many hours of abundant sunshine. However, a fresh wind also blows through the wine, bringing a fine, lingering acidity and a fresh herbal essence. It is a wonderfully juicy, balanced and expressive wine, unpretentious, simply telling the liquid story of a place, a people and a moment in time.
