Fermented with indigenous yeasts. Aged for 9 months in used 500 and 600 litre barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered and with no added sulphites.
Description
Strohmeier TLZ Weiss is an exquisite combination of varieties that fuse together to create a unique drink. It is composed of 70% Pinot Blanc and 30% Chardonnay, two varieties that, when blended together, create a perfect balance in the glass. Sourced from the Bad Gams and Stainz vineyards, this wine benefits from a special terroir, characterised by gneiss with a significant iron and silica content.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected to preserve only the ripest bunches. A brief skin contact of approximately 5 hours is made to keep the wine in its freshest state, followed by gentle pressing. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously in used 500-litre wooden barrels, where the wine matures for about a year. During the bottling phase, no filtering is carried out and no sulphur is added, thus preserving its purest essence.
Taste
Strohmeier TLZ Weiss delights us with subtle hints of skin contact on both the nose and palate, offering plenty of citrus and stone fruit notes, accompanied by a pleasant salinity. Its fleshy attack leads to a grapefruit-dominated core, followed by a finish of lemon oil with a hint of zest. It is a wine of remarkable persistence, refreshing and electric, with a good level of acidity. Its natural flavour profile is unmistakable.
