Features

Description

Radikon Jakot wine is a rarity that comes from the Radikon winery, located in Oslavia, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. This winery is run by producer Sasa Radikon, who has dedicated his passion and knowledge to the creation of exceptional wines. The Jakot is particularly special, as its name is the inverted spelling of the Tocai grape, which was forced by the EU to change its name to Friulano years ago.

Winemaking

This wine is classified as a skin-contact white wine, also known as orange wine, and is made from the Friulano grape. The process of making Radikon Jakot is meticulous and traditional. It ferments wild in open wooden vats, and undergoes a 3-4 month maceration with the skins. It is then aged for at least 36 months in wooden casks and 18 months in the bottle. This process guarantees a wine with a deep and complex character. Finally the wine is bottled unfiltered, unclarified and without added sulphites.

Taste

Radikon Jakot has an introverted personality. However, it is capable of expressing almost infinite depth and reaching peaks of astonishing taste tension. On tasting, it enchants with notes of dried pear, lightly smoked almonds, spiced papaya and tamarind jam. Unlike the more passionate Ribolla, Jakot has a more subtle, intellectual and meditative character.
