Description
Niepoort Colheita stands as a wine jewel that encapsulates the essence of the prestigious Portuguese winery Niepoort. This wine is the result of a careful selection of grapes from several varieties, in which Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão predominate. These grapes are grown in the sunny hills of the Douro Valley, where the unique terroir and mild climate provide optimal conditions for their development. Although the exact percentages of each variety may vary according to the vintage, this blend of grapes gives the wine exceptional complexity and balance.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, guaranteeing the quality of the grapes. After fermentation, the wine undergoes extended ageing in oak barrels for a significant period of time, generally longer than that required for a vintage wine. This ageing allows the wine to develop a wide range of flavours and aromas, as well as a smooth and elegant texture.
Taste
A number of exceptional nuances are revealed that define its distinctive character. Deep flavours and aromas of ripe fruits such as plums, figs and sultanas are interwoven with subtle hints of spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg.
