Description
Movia Lunar 8 is an orange wine from the fertile lands of Goriška Brda, in the Slovenian region of Collio.
Winemaking
With Movia Lunar 8, nature does most of what humans would normally do with the help of the moon, making it the most natural and pure wine with no added sulphur. It is pure nature in a glass. Made from 100% Ribolla grapes, the grapes are harvested by hand late in the Movia winery's vineyards in Brda, and care is taken to ensure that a maximum of 2 hours elapse between harvesting and the start of spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in new oak barrels. After 8 months of ageing in the same barrels, the wine is bottled under the full moon, with no sulphur added, no filtering and no mechanical pressing. This very gentle process gives Lunar its wonderful structure and reflects the closeness to nature of the orange wine.
Taste
Movia Lunar 8 feels smooth at first, but quickly balances with a lively freshness, minerality and a slight astringency from the tannins. Its flavour is intense and full-bodied, with a pronounced and long-lasting elegance. It is an exceptional wine that, although it can be enjoyed now, has the potential to age beautifully in the cellar for many years to come. Its fine , accentuated aromas evoke memories of boiled apple, quince, apricot and ripe pear. In addition, nuances of meadow flowers, candied citrus, hay, nutmeg, white pepper, vanilla and honey can be perceived.
