The 2018 Maximin Grünhaus Abtsberg Riesling Spätlese opens intense yet pure and floral/herbal on the nose, with delicate yet intense dark flinty slate aromas. The palate is lush, round and highly stimulating with its delicate, crystalline and salty acidity, which lends remarkable finesse and length. This is delicious and fabulous in its weightless but nobly refined character and endlessly salty, playful but also long and mineral finish. Tasted from AP 6 19 in June 2019.

Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Spätlese is a wine that comes from the renowned wine regions of Germany, specifically from the Mosel Saar Ruwer region. This wine is made exclusively from the Riesling grape variety.
Winemaking
Its elaboration and ageing process has been meticulously supervised to guarantee a product of the highest quality. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in 1,000-litre vats, which gives it unique characteristics. In addition, the wine is grown in blue slate soils from the Devonian period which give the wine a subtle and distinctive minerality.
Taste
Characterised by its exotic and aromatic taste. On the palate, one can perceive a blend of fruits such as yellow pear, yellow apple and candied citrus. These fruity notes are complemented by hints of laurel, tea and resin, bringing a richness and complexity to the wine's flavour profile. It also stands out for its precision. On the palate, an unexpected freshness can be sensed, accompanied by flavours of menthol, green tea and lemongrass. All of this culminates in a lingering finish, where it fades into notes of salt and slate spice. The combination of intense and delicate flavours, together with its perfect balance, makes it one of the most outstanding wines of its vintage.
