Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese is a sweet white wine from one of the most prestigious wine regions. This wine is made mainly from the Riesling variety, one of the most appreciated white grapes for its ability to reflect the terroir and for its versatility in wine styles.
Winemaking
ABTSBERG is undoubtedly the winery's most renowned location. Its subsoil is composed mainly of bluish Devonian schist. This region has a slope that can reach up to 75%, and in the centre of this dome are the best plots of the winery. The soil tends to be shallower and rockier than in other areas, which is reflected in the pronounced minerality of the wines. The wines from this 14-hectare plot are among the longest-lived in the world. In addition to Riesling, Pinot Noir is also grown in ABTSBERG.
Taste
The wine is characterised by an aromatic complexity on the nose. Notes of ripe mango, pineapple and apricot combine harmoniously with hints of lemon balm, mint and eucalyptus. A touch of minerality, characteristic of shale, is also detectable. On the palate, this Auslese is extremely elegant, with delicate acidity and rich fruitiness. Light hints of honey and almond cream are noticeable, with a pronounced herbal note and tension. Its fresh, minty character lingers on the palate, leaving an impressive finish.
This wine is ideal to pair with an herbal ice cream with mango cream, highlighting and complementing its fruity and herbaceous notes. With an alcohol content of 7.95% and an acidity of 7.8 g/l, it is a wine that balances sweetness and freshness, being a true delight for the palate.
