Description
The Sauvignon Blanc wine of Marqués de Riscal is a single varietal wine produced under the PGI denomination of Castilla y León, in the Rueda region. For this particular product, fruit from 25-year-old vineyards is used.
Originally, the Marqués de Riscal winery was one of the first to successfully introduce the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety on Castilian soil. The result is now part of the local winemaking tradition: a wine with good intensity and well-developed tannins that will delight everyone.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand. Once the fruit is selected, the grapes undergo a cold maceration, in addition to the extraction of the must and its subsequent clarification. During this period the wine undergoes a slow fermentation at a controlled temperature of up to 15ºC.
The second part of the procedure comprises the ageing stage, during which the wine is in contact with the fine lees. As a result, both its ageing capacity and its taste are significantly improved.
Taste
On the nose, it stands out for its aroma of citrus fruits and fresh grass. It is also possible to perceive characteristic mineral nuances. In the mouth, its flavour is fresh and clean, with a persistent note on the palate.
