Description

Le Coste Carbò wine is produced in the town of Gradoli, by the Le Coste winery in the region of Lazio, Italy. This wine is made from 100% Sangiovese, one of Italy's most emblematic grapes.

Winemaking

The vinification of Carbò is a meticulous and traditional process. The grapes, harvested at optimum ripeness, are gently placed in a French oak truncated cone-shaped vat and saturated with carbon dioxide (CO2). After approximately four weeks of carbonic maceration with indigenous yeasts, the must completes its fermentation. The wine then matures for about two years in old 500-litre French oak barrels and spends a further 6 months in the bottle. During this process, no sulphites are added, no fining or filtration is carried out.

Taste

Le Coste Carbò is not a wine that is produced every year. It is only made when the Sangiovese is in perfect condition. The carbonic maceration technique is mainly used to obtain aromatic, fruity and easy to taste wines. However, what really defines Carbò wine is the quality and consistency of the grapes used. On the palate, this wine surprises with its juiciness and density, offering delicious cherry aromas, herbaceous notes and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is elegant and vibrant, with marked acidity, fine tannins and a long finish with seductive hints of bitter herbs.
