Description
La Rodeda is a red wine made exclusively with hairy Grenache by the Familia Nin-Ortiz winery in Porrera, Priorat (Spain).
The grapes come from a single plot "Tros de la Teresina i Daniel" a small plot with old vines between 80 and 100 years old of Garnacha Peluda.
These vines have been planted on steep slopes on black slate soils in the town of Porrera, facing north and, at 650 metres, it is one of the highest in the Priorat region.
Elaboration
The grapes are harvested by hand and the grapes are sorted by hand. The whole bunches are fermented with natural yeasts and the wine matures in oak barrels where malolactic fermentation takes place.
La Rodeda is aged for 19 months in new barrels in which more than 300 bottles are filled.
Taste
La Rodeda is an elegant and complex wine with fruity aromas, mineral notes and a touch of liquorice and spices. In the mouth it shows a great texture and finesse and a very concise tannin typical of the Garnacha Peluda and a very long finish.
An elegant, fine, sensual and perfectly balanced wine.
La Rodeda is a wine resulting from organic farming and the application of biodynamic methods, where respect for nature and the genuine expression of the terroir are essentially shown. What has been achieved is a wine with a lot of energy and great ageing potential, worthy of the Priorat.
In the gastronomic field, this red wine can be the perfect accompaniment for different meals made with red meats and game.
