Description
Gut Oggau Josephine' s personality resembles that of Josephine, Timotheus' second wife and Winifred's stepmother. A woman of character, easy-going and somewhat voluptuous. Despite finding love at an older age, her tempestuous youth has moulded her into an unconventional woman who radiates vitality and enjoys life to the full. She is an ideal companion to share, open to strangers, and rewards her friends with deep insights into her innermost qualities.
Gut Oggau Josephine comes from vineyards that are 35 years old, giving it a unique maturity and character. It is grown on gravelly soils, which gives the wine certain mineral characteristics. The varieties used for its production are Blaufrankish and Roesler. The grapes are harvested by hand and destemmed. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts is carried out in used 500, 1,000 and 1,500 litre vats. Subsequently, the wine is aged in 500-litre barrels for approximately 8 months without batonnage. Finally, it is bottled unfiltered, unrefined and without the addition of sulphur, thus preserving its purest essence.
Taste
In Gut Oggau Josephine, we find a deep dark red wine that reminds us of a juicy explosion of raspberry compote with hints of blackberry. Its acidity is outstanding, being super tart and spicy, with a slight effervescence at first. However, over time, this wine mellows, becoming a real juice bomb that reminds us of that tuttifrutti chewing gum with liquid in the centre.
