Description
The red wine Château Musar comes from vineyards located in the Bekaa Valley, Aana and Kefraya in Lebanon. The vineyard extends over stony soils on a limestone base, ideal conditions for the varieties grown there. This wine is the result of a blend of the traditional red varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault. These vines have their roots in vineyards that were planted since the 1930s. With an average age of 40 years, these mature vines, cultivated in the traditional goblet system, produce low yields ranging from 15 to 35 hl per hectare, thus guaranteeing exceptional concentration and quality in the harvested grapes.
Winemaking
It all starts with the different grape varieties, which are subjected to prolonged fermentation in cement vats at temperatures below 30°C. Six months after the harvest, the wine is transferred to French oak barrels from Nevers, where it matures for a year. The wine then ages in bottle for four years in the deep stone cellars of Château Musar. This period of rest in optimal conditions allows the wine to develop its character and complexity. Finally, the finished wine is released to the market a total of seven years after the harvest.
Taste
Château Musar stands out for its aromatic and gustatory complexity. It has an intense nose with hints of sweet spices, vanilla, leather, tobacco and a touch of animal. These aromas are interwoven with balsamic notes that add depth and character to the wine. On the palate, it is described as elegant, with a perfect acidity that balances its richness. A touch of iron, indicative of its mineral terroir, and just the right structure make it persistent on the palate.
