Description
Antonio Madeira Dâo Os Granitos is a wine that reflects the rich winemaking tradition of the Dâo region of Portugal. Produced from several vineyards that host more than 20 indigenous varieties, this wine is mainly composed of 60% of Tinta Amarela, Baga, Jaen, and 40% of varieties such as Alicante-Bouschet, Tinta Pinheira, Negro Mouro, Marufo, Bastardo, Tinta Carvalha, Alfrocheiro, among others. These vines are planted on a wide variety of soils, with up to five different types, showing variations in colours and textures of granite in different areas of the vineyard.
Winemaking
Alcoholic fermentation is carried out naturally with indigenous yeasts by infusion. The wine is then transferred to used barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation until the following spring and is aged for 18 months. Finally, it is bottled and left to mature in the bottle for another two years.
