Description
The Amalgamè wine represents an oenological gem from the Vigne Au Daim plot in Gizia (Jura), a collaboration between Christian and Mathieu that began in 2011. This wine is a testament to the diversity and richness of the Jura terroir, incorporating almost extinct varieties such as Petit Béclan, described by Jancis, Julia and José in their reference book Wine Grapes as a "virtually extinct Jura vineyard". Together with Gamay, Pinot, Trousseau and Poulsard, planted on a steep hillside, Amalgamè is a unique blend that reflects the rusticity and complexity of these varieties.
Winemaking
Amalgamè follows a meticulous process, fully destemmed and co-fermented, then aged in 300-litre barrels for 12 months, giving it a dense, grippy structure, adorned with ripe black fruits and appetising acids.
Taste
Amalgamè is an exploration of contrasts, where ripe black fruit intertwines with acidity, creating a complex and enveloping taste profile. The presence of Poulsard, Petit Béclan and Gamay provides an unusual blend for a French wine, particularly notable for its red fruit and raspberry notes, slightly acidic. Despite its lightness, this wine offers an exciting taste experience, although it maintains a certain tendency towards the characteristic flavours of natural wines, which can sometimes seem uniform in their difference. However, Amalgamè breaks this uniformity with its unique and pleasant character, even if its price may be considered somewhat high. This wine is not only a pleasure for the palate, but also an authentic expression of Jura innovation and tradition, offering an unforgettable experience for wine lovers.
