The Fritz Haag 2010 Braunebeger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese A.P. #6 tastes of lusciously ripe fresh peach and pink grapefruit. Hints of pit and zest add impact to its aromatic display and help offset a palate impression sweeter than that of the corresponding Juffer. The vibrant intensity of citrus in the finish is remarkable considering the opulence displayed on the palate. For now, this misses the elegance of the Juffer, but it has 25 or more years ahead of it, and arguably more sheer richness of material to burn. Oliver Haag insists that not more than a quarter of the fruit for this was botrytized, if that, which makes it the least affected of any Auslese in the present collection.
