Description
Alfredo Maestro La Cosa is a sweet white wine that has been crafted from the Moscatel de Alejandría grape variety by the Alfredo Maestro winery in Peñafiel in Valladolid, under the Castilla y León appellation.
This variety comes from a vineyard planted at an altitude of 1,000 metres above sea level on a soil with a composition of pebbles and clay in Valtiendas (Segovia).
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, trying not to break the skins. The grapes are selected in the vineyard and in the winery, on a selection table. Afterwards, the bunches are hung up and the grapes are aerated and dehydrated for two months. Afterwards, the grapes are pressed.
Alcoholic fermentation is slow at low temperature with indigenous yeasts in 1000 litre stainless steel tanks, where the wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation. It is not aged.
Decanting is done in stainless steel tanks during the winter months.
Taste
Alfredo Maestro La Cosa is a naturally sweet white wine, a single varietal Muscat of Alexandria with a great aromatic richness. In the mouth it is pleasantly unctuous, smooth on the palate and sweet with good balance in acidity.
